2008 in review

As we close the chapter known as 2008, I just want to say that it has been a tough year all around- for a lot of people.

People having babies, losing babies and or loved ones, being laid off, starting new jobs, moving, etc. With all the changes - some not so good, I just want to tell everyone that I plan on having a positive outlook for 2009! It can't get any worse right?!?!?!

I am blessed to have some of the best friends in the world, you all know who you are- I couldn't have made it thru some of my(our) difficult times without you.

I hope that you all have a safe & Happy New Year and may 2009 be a brighter, better year for everyone!

Court upholds discount on "In God we Trust" license plates

Indianapolis - The Indiana Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of the state's "In God We Trust" license plate Monday, rejecting a claim that people who buy the plates should have to pay a $15 administrative fee charged for other specialty plates.

Anyway, I am posting because as I drove into work this morning at an early hour of 6:30am.... I am drinking water and listening to my radio loudly to help stay awake... I hear this disturbing news that people were actually complaing about $15.00???????????? Are you kidding me?

You may not agree with me, but the 15.00 dollars over wether or not to consider "In God we Trust" a specialty license plate for those who drive in Indiana IS RIDICULOUS!
I have had a lot on my mind lately- friends who need my prayer, love and support, things I need to do at home, work, etc. But I just want to say that with all of lifes choices and decisions to make why are people being sooo petty and verbal over 15$?

For once I'm happy w/ the a lawmakers decision!

Ok, I'm done ranting now!

Inspiration

I don't often think of "deep" things. I wouldn't consider myself to be one of those people who are always dwelling on serious things or whatever. Yeah, I take care of business and do what I need to, but recently I have been inspired by a good friend of mine. I have been impacted by her in a way she may never know, even if she does read this. She has held her head up high and maintained her testimony. Instead of letting her feelings get the best of her and drag her down she has been a bright spot in a dark situation. I can't begin to tell her what an encouragement she has been to me. I should be the one encouraging her thru this difficult time, but she has been amazing.
I just wanted to say thank you Julie!

Can 2 enjoy what's meant for 1?

Ok, so this past weekend was my step daughter Elizabeth's 13th birthday. Agh....... she's a teenager! I knew what I signed up for when I promised her over the summer that she could have a few friends stay with her in a hotel room for one night after her party.
BUT.. I just want to share my weekend with you all for a minute....

We did the bowling birthday party- which went off without a hitch. Earlier in the day I had left the house to check into our hotel rooms and to decorate hers for later and what not.... We did the bowling thing and headed to the hotel around 8:15pm....
When you have a large span in age like I do, there will tend to be conflict.... Jake is 8 months old and Elizabeth just turned 13.... and sometimes meeting needs can be difficult to accomplish. WE- by that I mean the hubby & I took Liz and 3 friends to a nearby hotel for a night of fun following her birthday party. However, my poor Jakie was not on the same page as the rest of us, he had ideas of his own. He has recently become more vocal about his likes and dislikes and didn't want to go swimming in the pool because it was too late and really he should have been in bed... We only had about an hour before the pool would be closing so we all changed and ran down there. Jake was kinda unwilling to cooperate while I changed him, but he went along after a few minutes. He loves watching other kids play and gets excited when he can get "involved" in some way on his own level. Well. as it turned out they didn't get to go swimming after all because some poor kid had thrown up earlier and the pool was closed. Anyway, I said all that to say that making everyone happy is sometimes a chore... The girls did end up having fun - they played twister, and did makeovers and stayed up all night long. The next day Elizabeth was soo tired.
But everyone did have a good time. I was glad it was a success, but I am tired today- I could have slept all night after waking up from a 2-1/2 hr nap.

small miracles

So this is really petty but..........
I am happy I am SLOWLY figuring things out- I don't know why this site is not coming easily to me.
